Bulloch County Junior LEGOs
The goal is to encourage STEM interest in Elementary Schools.

The initial pilot will focus on a Climate/Weather theme in the 2nd 9-weeks in the Bulloch County 1st Grade Quest Program.
The students will study the normal curricular material augmented by two experiential learning activities: 1) designing and building a Climate/Weather LEGO model and 2) preparing a single poster sheet related to the model.
The thought at present is to take digital photos of the participating classes with their models and posters.
All participating classes will receive awards (to be determined). We haven't decided yet whether to present awards at the end of the 2nd 9-weeks or at the Spring Award Days.
Initially, the activities will be co-developed with a lead teacher(s) and then distributed to the other Quest teachers, possibly after an early pilot run.
The kids can use any LEGOs or DUPLOs that you have available. I can loan a W779324 Micro Building Set from legoeducation.com(click) and a box of LEGOs from my children. I only have enough for one class at a time, typically in groups of three. For multiple classes, start them on the poster several days apart so that one group can finish and then disassemble the kits before the next group starts.
T-shirts, dress-up clothes, face-painting, silly hats etc. are encouraged for the group picture to promote a festive atmosphere.
This model matches Junior FIRST LEGO League only in the theme. The resources at that web site (click) are freely available to anyone.
